    Trouble with AR15 dealer

I ordered an upper about 10 weeks ago, I was originally quoted 5 weeks. Of course my visa was hit a couple days after the order.

Here is the message I would like to send this guy, is it spot-on or am I being a diva:

    Pete,
I spoke with Deann this morning. According to her, RRA quotes to ALL dealers that it takes 8-12 weeks to build the uppers. According to one of your ads, you are the "Oldest and Largest Premier Stocking dealer", and yet your guess for delivery date was grossly exaggerated. I find it amazing how your 5-week "guess" could be so far off the mark.

I would really like to cancel this order (I contacted Visa and found out its not too late), but seeing as how I've already waited twice as long as what you quoted me and now I only have about 2.5 weeks, I guess I'll stick it out now.

This approach to business is unprofessional, telling customers what they want to hear so that you can capture the sale and then blame it on RRA for taking so long. I asked you specifically how long it was going to take, and chose to go through you because of this fact. Here's some advice, go look up the word integrity.

i think you are overreacting a little bit but i understand how frustrating it can be to have to wait so long.

i think it will be more of an effect to them to cancel your order and buying something else. after you successfully cancel, politely inform them you cancelled because of the long wait time and their poor quoting, dont flip out or anything. that accomplishes nothing. kick em in the money sac lol

no offense to RRA owners . . i personally dont see the point of waiting that long when there is easier access to stocked products like stag (equal quality) and cmmg (even better). RRA is a very nice upper but what turns me off is 1) long wait time 2) all their barrels are heavy, and they charge as much or more than stag who cuts a govt profile carbine barrel for lighter weight. id pick up one of their uppers with that sweet R4 govt profile barrel if they were faster to build. but dont forget they are one of hte biggest companies out there with plenty of demand

CMMG has optional medium, govt, and lightweight cuts on their 20" bbl and it doesnt cost much more . . i love mine

all our sponsoring vendors carry good uppers at good prices and arent going to fart around wtih you on the quotes, thats why they are an imbedded part of our community

Pete is usually spot on. He quoted me 5 weeks and it came in 4. His prices are way below what anyone else has. What upper were you trying to get, I have bought 3 from him and only one (a NM upper) I had to wait on. That was also during the time when everyone was short due to panic over a new ban possibility.

BTW, try PMing him threw ARF.com? He gets back real quick.

Thanks for the feedback, yeah it's pretty frustrating. I chose to go with a RRA because I wanted at least one complete rifle from a larger manufacturer, the others are frankenrifles. I chose a standard A2 upper with chrome lining and muzzle brake, so I can build up a featureless mmg configuration.

And yes, the price was good.

I agree with not waiting on RRA. There are other brands of equal or better quality that are readily available. But if you have your heart set on RRA, you can always buy from gunbroker (I just picked up a bitchin' tricked-out Stag). There are a few dealers with huge numbers of positive feedbacks selling what they actually have in stock, hence no wait at all.

As far as dealing with this particular vendor, I would see if they were trying to put in any sort of effort to make this right for you. First of all, they should not have charged your card until the product was actually shipped - Visa/MC can rip them a new a-hole for doing that and if there are multiple complaints they will lose their merchant account and get blacklisted. Perhaps, they should offer you some sort of discount or store credit. If they just blame it on RRA and do nothing, go ahead and file a complaint with Visa. You'll get your money back and they'll be dealt with by their processing company.

            Just my $0.02...

Hmm, he usually stocks those uppers. Maybe it had to be ordered because of the muzzle break. I had a car with chrome barrel and r4 profile barrel and it came in 3 days. It did have a flash hider on it though. I ordered one for myself and 3 weeks later ordered one for a friend.

RRA has been a little off when it comes to their quoted delivery times on orders. Believe me, it's frustrating all around, not just in the incovenience to the customer. My 2 cents.

I just got a sweet RRA upper that was in stock at PK firearms. All of their custom uppers are in stock ready to ship. I just called them to verify a particular upper was on hand, and I was informed that if they are out of stock of anything, it comes off the website until more come in.

I got a RRA upper with a midlength gas system, low profile gas block, 10 inch troy free float, 1/8 twist bead blasted barrel, with RRA bolt and carrier for a very good price. On standard RRA uppers, shipping is included in the price.

You might want to keep them in mind for your next order.

My question is why did they bill his credit card?

Anytime you make a special order they usual bill you right away. Well a few companies I have dealt with do. Since he ordered it with a muzzle brake it became a special order.

i've ordered some stuff from pete as well and was always quick about shipping those items to me. i'm sure he'll do whatever it takes to make things right. as far as in stock stuff... adco has some great prices (make sure you get the list e-mailed from them) and they tell you what they have in stock on their website.
