    stupid decapping die broke

Man I hate it when things go wrong. There I was at work happily prepping brass(yeah, sometimes I love my job) using my Lee decapping die when I apparently hit a stubborn piece of Lake city brass and the darn decapping pin broke instead of sliding out of the collet.
Had to finish up using the regular full length sizing die to decap and size hoping it would not break also. Gee life is hard

Wow, you broke a Lee, huh? I thought they were unbreakable (something about slipping up through the die instead of breaking off). I have broken many RCBS pins but at least you can buy replacement tips.

Does your Lee die have a warranty?

I broke a lee decapping pin reloading .357, what sucks most is having to wait for the new part.

Lees are hard to break (usually slip unless you tighten them too hard... which happened to me), but they have a guarantee NOT to break, so you can send in your broken one, and they should send you a new one.. or you can be lazy like me and buy one for $2.50 w/o having to wait for them to receive your broken one I've had a few stuck cases (too finicky with lube on my part) with my .223/5.56 brass, but only ONE break, after tightening it too hard. . .

              You wish

RCBS is superb in comping replacement pins...last time I called, I ended up with a 6-pak of small and large pins. Parts were in my mailbox 3 days later.

Just go pickup a Lee Universal Decapper from Sportsmans Wharehouse up in Rocklin, they're $8, that will get you going again til Lee sends you a replacement pin.

I think that is what happened to me also. the pin slipped out once and I thought it was to loose so I tightened the crap out of it. Live and learn. Do I actually have to send the die back to lee to get a replacement pin? if that is the case it cost more to do that than the pin cost and I can just add it to my next midway order.
The only thing about that is with my C&R "discount" Midway charges MORE than the regular price. I wonder why?
