Ever have the feeling you have enough?

Do you ever have a feeling that you "have enough" when it comes to acquiring firearms? An older gentleman in my local arms history group said something to the effect that "I need to spend my time coveting less and shooting more." Given that he's a far more serious collector and shooter than I will ever be it made me think.

Why do I personally collect firearms? Probably like most here I was gifted with a BB gun, a .22, a shotgun and a deer rifle during my formative years, really as rights of passages of sorts. Along with needing the tools to hunt and defend my family, I also became a repository for many of the arms my family and friends no longer wanted.

I also found that I liked to compete in certain shooting events which necessitated the acquiring of even more guns over the years. In this day and age there is also the desire to be able to pass firearms onto those of the next generation of also enjoy guns. Finally, somewhere along the way (likely from the BB gun forward) I found that I simply liked guns -- particularly the history, and I enjoyed shooting different models.

There are no more guns on my "must have list" and I find a great deal of comfort in that. No more stress that owning "xyz gun" may never be realized. While I doubt I will ever stop buying guns, I think I could at this time without remorse. I'm satisfied. It took a lot more guns than I would have ever expected to reach this state, but it's a good feeling.

I cannot fathom a situation where I would head to the field or the range (or defend my home) where I would think "dang, one again I really wish I had xyz gun to take a long." Maybe I have enough...

I have enough. However, I also collect C&Rs and I like building things...

I have those thoughts and feelings frequently. But they are short lived.

Other than familiar platforms in different calibers... I'm pretty much set. Need BETTER gear (Gen.III NVS, more armor and soft armor inserts, and DEFINITELY more training!), and probably just more ammo & mags. As the official currency of post-SHTF, you can never have TOO much/many ammo & mags - you can ONLY have more...

Honestly, I do feel I have enough, that's not to say I don't want more, but I really don't need more.

As a wise man once said when asked "How many guns do you have anyway"?

Yes, after 30 years of getting I realized I had way too many that never got out of the safes. So a bunch of stuff went to new homes and my lighter and leaner collection gets a lot more use.

Shortly after buying something new and being low on funds...then the funds start building, and SHOT show comes around...or I get a new interest (Bullseye, hunting, 3-gun, IPSC, etc.)

I see it a lot on this site... For Sale only 20 rounds fired..... I think how lame why buy the gun if you aren't going to use it for what it was designed for... Or if you have to sell it to get the next thriller...

For me any gun I really like after 6 months should have at least 1500 rounds put through it and after a year I wont even guess how many it has fired... Only exceptions would be a real collector or a hand me down gun from my father grand father or great grand father....
A gun is like a parachute. If you need one, and don't have one, you may never need one again.

Or a hunting rifle, my .270 only gets maybe 4 or 5 rounds a year through it. Otherwise it stays in the safe.

My problem is I love to build guns. So I always have a project going then I shot them a bunch and take them out every now and then. So I never feel like I have enough. If it came down to it and I was in a bind and needed the cash I could sell of a bunch and not feel bad about it because the real pride and joys of my collection would be safe.
So short answer, no I never feel like I have enough
