    DSA FAL SA-58 16in. barrel

I saw this at Turners and it's on sale for tax, is this a good deal considering it's a top loading rifle wherein the mag is fixed and you need stripper clips to feed the mag? Will I just be better off buying an Enterprise FAL with a bullet button than this? Appreciate any inputs on this matter.
    Thanks

DSA is probly the best you can get. I have a Entreprise, and it's not all it could be. whats wrong with it you ask. well there is a lot of play between upper and lower recivers. tool marks on the barrel when they put it on. one part not completly parkerized. tool marks on the reciver when it was milled. just not the same quality from all the DSA's that I've seen.

That is almost a grand less than what I paid for mine at Turners some years ago. Wish I had waited the years. I had to put a muzzle brake on mine, the recoil out of such a light weight carbine was brutal.

Thats a great deal if its all DSA (not a parts kit on a DSA receiver).

A little skill with a Dremel or a lot of patience with a miniature square file will clear the weld that fixes the magazine in place. PRK makes a bullet-button that will not prevent you from opening up the receivers, but it won't work with every kind of mag release. All of this is to say that a little time and a few parts will turn your $1200 gun into a $1600 rifle...

or if you keep it stock, the stripper clip is much faster than hand-loading a 10 round magazine, so it may not amount to the handicap that you imagine

The kick and flash from a 16" is a handful, but that helps keep down what you spend on ammo.

I am a BIG fan of the FAL design, but I gotta tell you a .308 fired out of a 16" barrel is gonna be LOUD---just my two cents...

If you decide to get the DSA, just be aware there was/is a recall on there FAL rifles, improper heat treating on lower trigger housing. DSA will fix for free including shipping, you just have to call them for serial # verification.
Check their website for info. They also told me they will be offering sometime this year, complete upper receivers in different barrel lenghts.
