Went to the Reno gun show this last weekend. An eight hours drive each way. Had a good time, and got out of state for a breath of free air. Bought few things, and the wife and I had a good time.
Saw John F. Kennedy's M-1 rifle, that he received from the DCM while he was a Senator. It is being auctioned off in September. It is expected that it will go for between $50,000 and $100,000.
They also have copies of the letter JFK wrote to the Army thanking them for it, and a letter from the Army detailing the work they did on it. The armours blued the M-1 and the stock has a clear synthetic finish on it. I was told by the spokesman for the Auction house that it DID NOT COME from the public auction the Kennedy Family had. He either did not know, or would not say where it had been in the years since JFK had it.
The auction house had another hundred or so firearms on display. All of it high end stuff.
