Anyone try Duracoating stainless?

I have a 10/22 in stainless. The receiver seems to be just painted silver but the barrel is real stainless.

Just wanted to go with something a lil less fancy looking. Maybe a flat black but am worried about how well the Duracoat will stick.

So guys any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated.

I have worked in Duracoat and it will stick to just about anything it just comes down to prep work. With SS I would sand the surface with a fine grit paper or media and then make sure that you clean it well and degrease it. For the receiver just spray some chemical paint remover on it (aluminum safe) and clean / degrease it then you are good to paint.

I Duracoated my Rem 5R about a year ago. I cleaned the crap out of it. Multiple times. It started peeling in a few months. I stripped the Duracoat & rattle canned it. Touch-ups will be easy now. I prolly won't use Duracoat again. Not worth the hasstle IMO.

As baz152 mentioned, prep work is everything. Shoddy prep work = crappy paint job. I've seen Duracoat on quite a few different items/firearms and if the prep work is done properly, it's a very durable coating.

Going 10 years on my first Duracoated stainless Savage BVSS, with not one complaint. Still shiny, still very much adhered, still used and abused more than most of my rifles, and still very Electric Lavender

You cleaned it, but did you sand or blast it first? If the paint doesn't have something decent to stick to, it's just going to come off no matter how clean it is.
