      The great thing about AR pistols is (right now) they are as close as we can get to owning a "SBR"-ish type firearm in CA. The Colt Commando design was a 10.5-inch system and there is plenty of reliability built into it because of the amount of use, time and money already in that system.

      The 7.5 is really a small upper assembly and I use a KX3 on mine to funnel that blast forward. I personally think that there exists a positive defensive application of an AR pistol. If you're worried about exceeding that 2500 fps mark for terminal ballistic effects, I would say additional work with some of the varmint loadings (30, 36 40 grain) projectiles is needed. The defensive use of short barrel AR uppers is in its infancy right now so time will tell.
