A co-work bought a shotgun from Turner's (West Covina) 4 years ago. He just moved into his new home a week ago. He was putting his shotgun in his safe when he realized that he did not have the paperwork anymore. What would be the best way to obtain new paperwork?

Just out of curiosity, why does he need the paperwork? It serves no real purpose other than possibly warranty repair, but after four years, I don't see this as an issue.
As to obtaining it, it's possible that Turners will still have the forms on file.Evil Roy Slade -

I usually throw my paperwork away as soon as I get home. It serves no use, generally doesn't have any serial numbers on it, and the DOJ doesn't retain the DROS information for long guns anyways.
Remember, the paperwork you get is nothing more than a receipt. It's not a registration form or confirmation and it's not a license. Please read the Calguns Wiki
Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes...Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.

+1. Paperwork is overrated and really serves no purpose.I usually throw my paperwork away as soon as I get home. It serves no use, generally doesn't have any serial numbers on it, and the DOJ doesn't retain the DROS information for long guns anyways.

I usually just scan it and save it as a pdf and throw away the paper. I have an electronic copy if I ever need it.Ray

i never had any papers when i bought my guns, besides a receipt they just dont give it to you, your guns should already be registered to you under DOJ so i dont think paperwork is necessary, just keep track of your serial number and you should be find"Speak softly and carry a big stick; you will go far."

Obviously you don't know what you're talking about. Long guns are not registered unless, you fill out a separate form and send it to DOJ yourself. Many handguns aren't registered either. They do become registered when they are legally transfered but, there are probably millions of legally owned unregistered handguns still in California.NRA Certified Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun and Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor
