Proposed open carry ban sparks protest

A group of gun rights activists took to the busy streets of Old Pasadena on Thursday with pistols at their hips in protest of a proposed statewide ban on the open carry of firearms.

Edit- I tried sending a note to his office but since I am out of his district it was rejected. Interesting enough, he wants to make laws for everyone in California but only wants to hear feedback from those in his district.

My comment was how naive his comment 'You don't need a gun to buy a cheeseburger' really is. True, but you may need one to defend against those who would want to harm you or others. I wanted to remind him of the McDonalds crime in San Ysidro years ago. I am certain victims and families wish someone had brought a gun to the 'cheeseburger' place that day.

That poor guy who was gunned down while trying to buy tacos at a Taco Bell . . . I guess these "law makers" don't think he needed to defend himself either. Of course, now that he's dead, he doesn't need anything . . . anymore . . . ever . . .

When did "what we don't need" become a legitimate reason to ban anything anyway?

I suppose those who "fear" guns and gun carrying law abeiting citizens feel a lot more comfortable with gang bangers who illegally own and carry. I guess they rather believe that laws actually "protect" us from bad guys.

Had an occasion such as the Giffords shooting arose in CA and a citizen was carrying, he or she would be able to defend themselves and save the lives of others. Another case of "the bad guys are gonna have the guns". Those that choose to defend themselves against criminals will now be criminals. Such BS.
