    need help

    hello everyone,

i have a smith & wesson M&P15OR and i want to purchase a rail system for it. this is my first AR so bare with me. the stock rail is 7 inches and i would like to put a 9 inch rail system on it. will this work and what would i have to do to make it work? when i take off the stock one it leaves the circle attached to the silver rod but how would i go about moving that forward so the 9 inch will fit?

any information would be very helpful!
    thanks!

Might want to post this in the Centerfire Rifle section.
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I belong to the group that uses firearms, and knows which bathroom to use.

Tis better to have Trolled & lost, Than to never have Trolled, at all.

If you're talking about the gas tube and sight base, you can't move it fwd without a barrel swap. More likely you can replace the sight base with a lower profile one so the longer rail can extend over it.

Yes, I believe the silver rod is called a gas tube. And you solve the problem the way Tonelar explained.
