dont know if this has been asked before but someone told me that the law has been passed requiring us to register our rifles. Can somebody confirmed this!

No, it's not been passed. There was a long gun registration bill last year that failed to pass at the 11th hour, and it has been reintroduced again this year. It's AB 809, and the thread about it is here.
