    AR questions

I have a friend that can't decide between a 16" or a 20" want's CQB and Precision! I told him to get both or different uppers. He want's to be able to squirrel hunt with us 200 yard shot and be able to CQB. 18" what scope can do both, oh did I mention he is cheap and will not spend more than $200 on a scope? He keeps call me driving me crazy!

    Any Ideas?

A quality barrel and upper with the minimum legal length of 16 inches is more than capable of accurately engaging targets out to 200- 300 yards and more.

So your friend can have both in one package if he picks correctly.

if he is only doing 2-300 yards a 16 inch barrel is plenty long.

$200 for a scope is fine. I've seen plenty of nice optics for that price. After all, you're only shooting at squirrels.

What Rob said, 16" is just fine for those ranges, even beyond that. He'll want 1 in 7 twist though for heavier rounds.

I wound get a 16 inch barrel with a mid lenght gas system. A 1 in 7 or a 1 in 8 in a Government or heavy profile would work good. Im looking for one myself right now for a rebarrel job in that lenght and good quality ones seem to be in short supply right now but Im on the hunt for a Daniel Defense hammer forged one.....

Stag uppers with a 16" barrel are good quality with a lifetime warranty. They are also affordable. 16" is more than enough for 300yrds. On Midway USA i saw a 4x Nikkon M-223 scope for $220.

I'm sure the military's standard issue 5.56 mm round has a bullet weight of 62 grains. For specialized use, I have heard of bullets as heavy as 77 grains being used.
