When do you thin your current inventory for new toys?

I'm thinking about selling my CZ-452 military training rifle to get cash to buy a couple of lower receivers or one lower plus parts. Spending money for toys right now is tight since I'm back to school full time and not working regularly.

I figured that with an AR platform I wouldn't need a separate .22 bolt rifle when I can just purchase a .22 conversion kit for the AR.

Seems like I'm catching the black rifle fever and phasing out of bolt action rifles and mil surps. I haven't shot it the last two times I've been back home and out to ASR. However doesn't really feel right to just let this one go.

What would you guys do? And do you think a CZ-452 about two years old, lovingly cared for (no scratches, no nicks, never dropped or roughly handled), cleaned after every range trip, and comes with original metal magazine and three spare CZ plastic magazines (not cheap) would resell for a good price?

Or should I keep it? I kinda agree with the idea that any firearm is an inherently valuable piece of property worth more than the actual paper money it would sell for. After all, I will be spending a good amount of money building an AR.

Don't ever sell your stuff!! Lowers are cheap right now. Borrow a couple hundred bucks from your folks or a good friend and keep your CZ.....or you'll be sorry down the road.

I do not "thin". I only add to my firearms......and safes.

I have to thin when I run out of safe space. The SO doesn't pay attention to what guns go in and out, but she *would* notice a second safe.
I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!

I actually am running out of space in the gun cabinet, another reason to thin.

I store an airsoft gun or two in there as well, but thats only because the upgrades to it make it very expensive plus the folks are renting out to tenants and I don't want them to know there are guns or even gun replicas in the house.

It does feel very hard to let this one go, hell, the guy who did the sales to me at Turners mentioned that they never get these in anymore. Dunno if thats true or if he was trying to make it seem like it was a hard gun to get for me

I thought it would make a cool guest/plinker gun for girls and guys who've never shoot before. Not surprisingly, the girls hate working the bolt but like the gentle recoil while the guys love working the bolt but don't want to shoot it once they've shot one of my battle rifles or the SPX 930.

                  That used to be me.

I have thinned the heck out of the herd in the last few years. I realized I had guns I had not shot in twenty years. The thinning began. Lots and lots of C&R guns and some modern ones have new happy owners.

Down to one safe but regularly shoot everything in it.
