a friend of mine is going overseas for a year Military IA tour. He asked me to hold a few of his guns. AR (ca legal BB ) and a few handguns.

Question is it legal for me to hold them and if so should i get a letter or anything from him saying I'm holding them for a year?

Not sure of legalities, but I thought the idea was good.
Write a simple rental agreement for space in your safe, then they are simply being stored safely in his rented part if your safe.

This idea stolen from someone elses suggestion here to a similar situation

I would, at the very least, get a signed, notarized document stating the situation, possibly power of attorney if something should happen to him overseas. I am not a lawyer.

Don't think so. Check the wiki, but he can only Lend them to you for periods of 30 days.

Can I loan a long gun to an adult?

Yes, if the person is known to you, the loan is infrequent and the duration of the loan is limited to 30 days. However, if the person is a licensed hunter, the loan may be for the duration of the hunting season in which the firearm is to be used.




So if you're a licensed hunter hunting some thing that is in season all year long...
(I think coyotes are in season all year)
