Cleaning a gun at the range is like carving structure out of ice and then taking a sledgehammer to it just to repeat yourself again.

I think it wouldn't be a bad idea to clean at the range if you're shooting corrosive ammo. I'm not saying to do a thorough cleaning, but just windex down the barrel and thebolt/piston and then swab it out and then clean in detail once you get home. Other than that theres really no need to have to clean it at the range.Comment

Open a window, go outside?
I've yet to be at an indoor range that I'd consider well lit enough to clean my gun. And an outdoor range is usually dirty. I see no reason to clean your gun at the range unless you're trying to show off your uber take down skills or something.OCSD Approved CCW Instructor

Rangemasters still has that table behind the shooting lanes. I've never seen anyone clean their gun there, but they do have some cleaning stuff that's always there.
They're moving? Any more info on that you can share? PM me so we don't threadjack any more than we already did

This is the only barre break in procedure needed. Anything else is just hooey!
As to the corrosive issue. Not that big of a deal. I used to have to drive two/ two and half hours to, and back from, our preferred shooting spot. Just make sure to clean those guns when you get home. Ah, the smell of solvent while sitting on the patio, beer nearby, scrubbing guns...that's a nice summer afternoon right there.Last edited by mike_the_wino; 04-15-2011, 11:08 AM.Comment
