Mythbusters Destroying Browning Hi-Power

On the most recent episode of Mythbusters, (Or at least the one that aired most recently for me) They featured some pretty nifty clips on firearms. Though as almost always with Mythbusters there were things that were cringeworthy. This time it was the myth that you could slide a gun across the floor by shooting it... first of all, duh. Second of all, they use a Browning Hi-power to demonstrate this... and by that I mean they set a Hi-Power on the ground and shoot it repeatedly... I may be just being butt-hurt but seriously? Why couldn't they have used a metal airsoft gun or a milled replica, or a demilled POS pistol or something? Pretty sure I'd rather have seen them skidding the glock they were shooting it with across the pavement by shooting it with the Hi-Power haha...

I've always wondered about that too... I heard they had like 30 "Eleanor" replicas for gone in 60 seconds but... did they really have that many old mustangs made up to look like that? Or do they make some kind of replica from scratch... I hope its the latter... At least hope its a good movie when you see some of that going on. For example in that HORRIBLE movie red line they crash a real Diablo for no reason other than "looks cool man"

Eh... hard to tell from the pics and video... the wood looks a bit dodgy, so it may be a clone, never really occurred to me.

They were really 67 and 68 Mustangs. They really didn't destroy too many, I think 5 or 6.
The movie was actually a good thing if you owned a Mustang that you wanted to get rid of. First, they wrecked cars so the supply went down. Second, everybody wanted an Eleanor clone, so the demand went up.
That's why a Rustang that was not selling for $1,000 in 1996 was worth $5,000 in 2001.

Mythbuster's sucks for just about anything firearm related. Granted, there have been a couple interesting ones, but overall there's been a lot of destruction for no gain.

As for your "duh"... I was actually surprised how far each shot would propel the gun. Didn't expect such jumps.

Well if you consider it's only around a 2 pound hunk of metal then it makes sense, especially if a round really digs in. I for one have shot up a fair share of non target like targets on a Ranch we own, so I guess maybe it was less surprising to me than to others perhaps
