Digilight 1000XB xenon lithium tactical flashlight
I just received my 1000XB in the mail.
It's a great little tactical lithium/xenon flashlight at only $25. It's an all aluminum construction, very well built with a durable anodized matt black finish (it's also available in a nasty camo job for $18 -- 1000XB). The checkering is tight, uniform and deep and the construction and fit is also exemplary.
It has like the Surefire G2 a twist for constant on, or depress the tail-cap button for momentary illumination activation. It also takes 123 lithium batteries. The box indicates 80 lumens output, their web site 70 and as far as I can ascertain is somewhere between the two.
One of the neat feature's like a Maglight of the 1000XB is you can pull and adjust the focus by twisting the lens/reflector assembly... I haven't seen that feature on similar lights.
My only gripe would be that the lamp isn't standard like a P60, but it does comes with a free replacement and you can order more for $12 a piece.
Also due to the lamp design the reflector is permanently attached to the lens/reflector assembly, a minor gripe too is the reflector is polished chrome instead of diffused so any flaw would show in the beam. I prefer the diffused chrome finish myself although the polished finish makes for a very bright pin-point presentation.
The 1000XB has a sharp beam, a bright-white even throw with a good adjustable core and a consistent outer ring. If you twist the lens/reflector assembly almost off it creates a very useful low-light area beam.
It comes with a useful holster and they also make the same product with a bunch more accessories for $37, the 1000XB-LE.
I have yet to check on it's water resistant/proof status but it has good quality O-ring sealed in all the right places and should do well in a nasty storm.
Smaller then the Surefire G2 or Brinkmann Maxfire LX it weighs in at 5 ounces and is only 4 3/8" long with a 1" wide handle and a 1 3/16" lens/reflector assembly.
A superb compact light that would be a great addition to your collection and a good light to mount on, erm... say a AR you may or may not have recently acquired.
