Dateline is on tonight - story of a woman (and her new boyfriend) killed by her ex-boyfriend. When first threatened the woman called the police, provided all sorts of info, got a restraining order and an alarm. Threats took place over a considerable period of time. The ex eventually broke into her home & killed her & boyfriend. The thrust of the show from the police (who acknowledge they could not protect her) and the reporter is that she did everything she could to save her life. With all due respect - really?

Oh, really? So, her shotgun, carbine, pistol and knife all were rendered ineffective? How?

We have a few drug houses where I live. If they found out you ratted em. I wouldn't be surprised if they killed you or your family members.

I am sure there are "good tunes" flowing out the window. I am imagining a cop car pulling up at 1:30 AM asking "Are you having a party?" and Bundo sayin "Nope just me and the BG's"

The story was constructed in a way that made me think - OK, where's the part about her buying a gun? She has a new boyfriend - he must have bought a gun. They interviewed the next door neighbor and he mentioned having his handgun at the ready that night. So the stage is set - bad guy attacks, neighbor saves the day, cut to interview of the girl saying "I can't believe what almost happened to me"... Nope. Bad guy attacks, kills girl & boyfriend.
And the police say there was no way to prevent it. Just amazing.GOA Member & SAF Life MemberComment

The police made a mistake of not picking him up when he broke restraining order.
There story is they didn't know he was. Yeah like they didn't know his driver license number.
Bottom line the police can't protect nothing. Buy a GUN.
More than Simply amazing to me.Comment

New boyfriend began honing his marksmanship skills. Kept revolver handy.
They installed an alarm system by ADT.
The ex boyfriend cut the phone wires and the ADT system wires then broke the sliding glass door window and entered the house. The alarm did not go off at this point.
Bad guy goes upstairs and starts shooting boyfriend and ex girlfriend while they slept.
Girls heard shooting and and took off down stairs, somewhere around this time is when the ADT system alarm sounded.
Ex boyfriend violated the restraining order but Minnesota cops wouldn't cross the river to pickup the guy.
Lotsa warnings, she knew and new beau knew he was going to kill. Told police many times but department seemed to be in denial.
When told of the restraing order violation, one of the District Attorneys said to issue a citation.
Bottom line shows that the police are reactionary in nature. They cannot do anything until a law is broken. Hopefully a minor law as something major like homicide is too late to save the victim.
