Shipping C&R pistol out of state?

Im selling an old Colt 1903 .32 pistol to an out of state collector. The gun is 50+ years old and both, the collector and myself have 03 FFL's. The pistol will be shipped from Ca to VA. Is anyone familiar with the laws in Va. Will I need to ship to the collectors 01 FFL or could he receive directly? Thanks in advance

He can receive directly, the prohibition against directly receiving pistols only applies to us poor shlubs in CA.

Is the gun registered to you here in the state? I bet theres a form you have to fill out saying you no longer own the gun after you ship it out.

I think all you have to do is log it out of your bound book.

          Thanks guys.

Another question, this sounds like a no-brainer, but

I've also sold a 50+ year old Browning SA .22 rifle to a guy in SW Ohio. He does not hold an 03 FFL, would this need to go through his 01 FFL or does he, living in the free world, have the right to receive a rifle of C&R status directly to his residence? Im in Ca.

If you are shipping it to Ohio then it will need to be shipped to his local 01 FFL to be transfered to him. Even though he lives in a free State, the Federal rules on interstate transfers come into play here.

If he wants to come out to California to pick it up then he can come to your licensed premises and pick it up directly and take it home himself.

You don't have to fill it out, but you can if you desire. It's the "No Longer In Possession" form. I can't remember if there's a fee to file it or not.
