Guys, report back here when you hear from Doug/FrontSight, or when you receive you cert.

I sent in on 8/11, hear or receive nothing yet.

              I've got the email

Sent in 8/11, got confirmation that the cert is coming today, 8/14.

Now, has anyone gone thru the "Select-Fire M16" course with this cert yet?

I would like an idea, how much the whole thing will cost me.

              Seemingly, I am hearing,
              - $50 application background check fee
              - $n 2k ammo (anyone know exactly how much?)

Around 200 clams for the ammo. Call their Pro Shop for exact ammount.

                +Food
                +Gas
                +Lodging

It adds up, but you will not be disappointed.

September or October are the best weather times.

"Around 200 clams for the ammo" <- what do you mean? Sorry.....

                  Food/Gas/Lodging.... are given expenses....

I just want to know what other "Front Sight" mandatory expenses..... $50 + ammo... that's it? Are there mandatory gears? (I probably have got everything.... from shooting IPSC/IDPA....)

Sorry, 200 dollars, roughly, email or call. They like you to use their ammo in their guns.
You probably already have ear and eye protection. At least one knee pad for kneeling. (cheap, no need for anything fancy). You might want a magazine holder for a spare mag (but cargo pants w/big pockets will do). Gloves, just something light since handling a gun for four days will make sore spots and blisters. You can make due with medical tape (they usually have some on the ranges).
                    Go through this page thoroughly.

Muzz, when did you take the course? They are saying that one would need 2000 rounds of ammo..... and their shop is asking for like $7-8/20 rounds!! 2000 rounds seem like will run me anywhere from $600-$800!!!!

I've got all the other stuffs you mentioned.... since I do 3-guns matches...

I also just talked to Doug.... and found another reason why i may NOT want to do the Select-Fire M16 anymore...... I would have to shoot "iron-sight".... I wouldn't be able to use my personal optics... ie. if I go for the "practical rifle" class, I can use my own AR... with EOTech and everything...., but if I do their Select-Fire class, I would have to use their guns with no modification allowed.... (+ pay the ammo cost...)

Yikes...I've taken the class twice and I got about a 50% discount on ammo but it was nowhere near even half that price. E-mail them for a true quote.

SAVE that 4 day class certificate and get a "grey" one for cheap somewhere for the practical rifle class. That way you can do both. The grey one is good for you first course only. I'll PM you.

Got my certificate today. Very fast delivery.
I am thinking about 4 days practical rifle or 4 days select fire if ammo cost going to be below $800. Is there rifle choice for select fire class? I would love to take AK-47 training.
