Ice house shooting areas?

Hello,

So I am tired of going shooting near Auburn and want to focus on the Eldorado side. Can any one recommend any areas near a lake that is not occupied with a camp ground and can be accessed by a truck?

I am looking on google maps and see some interesting spots that look like very small lakes in the ice house area. Is any one more familiar with these lakes and know if every lake is occupied with a camping area? I may just have to drive up there and scout it out but I haven't been to ice house in a year or so.

My main focus is an area to shoot guns that is in walking distance to a lake. This might not even be possible.

There's a small lake called Junction Reservoir located below Union Valley Res. Most of the times I've been there fishing - we were the only people there. There's no designated campgrounds there, but if there's anyone there camping or fishing - you can't really shoot there by the water. There's only one spot that I know of that you can drive down by the lake and you can shoot there as long as noone else is there. If there is, you can take a short drive and there's lots of places to shoot around there.

Have you ever shot at the Lincoln Rifle range? Not any farther to drive than where you are talking about and no one to hassle you about if it is legal or not to shoot there.

Just look on google maps and find areas that are in the EDNF

Thanks for the tips, yes I find myself hours at a time scouting on google maps however it is hard sometimes to figure out if my truck could make it through some spots.

Never been to the lincoln rifle range however we like to be able to shoot on our own terms so to speak, nothing unsafe of course. We just like to shoot near where we camp.
