Firearms instruction....?

Hello from Rusty in Alaska......

I am a retired Law Enforcement Aviation guy who has a really fine son in college at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.

My son Shaun is just now 21 and I want to buy him a birthday present handgun safety course. He's grown up here in Alaska shooting with me but I want an independent instructor to teach him the .45 ACP. His Uncle gave him a really nice Springfield 1911 for his birthday. I have it here in Alaska until I can figure out how to give it to him there, and he can possess it, legally.

Can any of you recommend at good Firearms Instruction school/individual near SLO? I want him to have a Basic and then Intermediate .45 course.

If he comes to LA, I will teach him. But, I guess it will be tough to come to LA from SLO.
