And you will be immediately guilty of both Federal and California firearms laws. The gun will have to be transferred at a Calif. FFL who will accept the gun shipped to him from either your friend or an FFL in Oregon. You will have to have a Calif. HSC card and do a DROS. This will not be a PPT so the FFL can charge whatever he wants.Comment

Incorrect. That's a violation of both federal and state law.
The OP's friend should mail the handgun (via UPS or Fed Ex overnight.. or have an FFL send it via USPS PRiority) direct to his FFL, who will transfer the gun to him through the usual procedure - DROS, 4473, HSC, cable lock, safe handling demonstration.Comment

I hate people that are full of hate.
It's not illegal to tip for PPT!Comment

I think Victor just read 10 rd mags. Speed reading can get you in trouble,....sometimes.

Dang thats not what i wanted to hear exactly. Like lets say he died then how would the transfer work? All of the FFL around my area are *****holes and expensive. So if i took this gun form oregon to Cali then and went to the range with it what realistically would happen if anything?Comment

Could i use a: http://caag.state.ca.us/firearms/forms/pdf/volreg.pdf
someone check that form out cause if im reading it correctly than i could just take it from oregon and then use that form??? or no?Comment

thats the link where i based my reasoning off of. Cant i say that it was a private sale that took place in CA and then fill out that form?
"If you have purchased a firearm through a Private Party transfer without conducting the sale through a Licensed Firearms Dealer, the California Department of Justice, Firearms Division has stated in a July 14, 2003 reply letter requested by Trutanich - Michel, LLP that they do not prosecute persons that attempt to correct this violation by properly filling out and filing a Voluntary Registration Form."Comment

The problem is that letter concerns a private party transfer. You would not be conducting a private party transfer. A simple call to Glock reequesting who they sold the serial number to and on down the line until they figure out it was last in Oregon shouldn't be too hard.http://www.calgunlaws.com/modules.ph...rring+Firearms

Second, you have publicly stated on a web board that is monitored by the CA DOJ that you wish to circumnavigate the law by "forgetting" to do a dealer transfer and illegally importing a firearm into this state, violating both federal and state law. If the DOJ has anyway of figuring out who you are (and I am sure it wouldn't be too hard), they simply make a query for your name and as soon as it comes up on the Volunteer Registration Form, they have you and they also share you with the feds.
Knowingly breaking the law on a $400 used handgun does not seem like a risk worth taking to me. Hell, even if it were a new $550 Glock it still doesn't seem like the best thing for me to do with my time and money.www.tenpercentfirearms.com was open from 2005 until 2018. I now own Westside Arms.Comment

No, that's a firearm transaction over state lines, and is illegal by fed requirements that it go through an FFL.Comment
