Texas Swat - Using VPC Information

I watched several of the new series programs titled Texas Swat on Court TV last night. It was similar to Cops, interesting at first - but too much macho testosterone stuff though. After about an hour into it, I started getting the anti-gun message.

Court TV must get their info from the VPC, as it was stated that an SKS and an AK47 assault rifles are the same, the implication is they are full-auto, and the SKS fires 600 rnds per minute of armor piercing rounds. These statements were pierced with clips of ninja cops firing a full auto AK at a CMU block wall turning it to swiss cheese, and a full auto Glock pistol at soda bottles. The camera then was viewed through the holes in the wall. Statements were made how deadly and how they are flooding the streets and becoming a threat to the officers.

I'll never watch this program again.

is this the show you are talking about?

Two different shows. One is Texas SWAT, the other is Dallas SWAT.

I caught a little of Dallas SWAT and it was a reasonable program that showed the personal and professional sides of these guys lives.

I just watch all this shows to see what kind of gear they have... It's interesting that they use Surefire's M500 handguards upside down...

It reminds me of the NY Police officer with the Aimpoint sight backwards... LOL...

I saw the second half of the episode last night and thought it sucked. I must have missed the good stuff in the first half.

Anyway, I hate the the fact that they show aspects of their personal lives. Who cares if this one SWAT member is trying to get back with his ex-gf by going to the opera. Reminds me of the early episodes of COPS. Show me training, gear, etc.

I agree. Show equipment, not the reality show BS, not the macho were going to kick !@# Waco/Rubby Ridge attitude, and especially not the anti-gun BS

Mounting the m500 series "upside down" isn't necessarily wrong, just a different approach with the equipment.

With the light above the axis of the barrel you get a bit of a shadow in your sight picture and the smoke from firing tends to obscure the light a bit. Inverting the handguard and placing the light below the axis of the barrel eliminates both of these.

As for the AimPoint thing...... I don't know what to tell you about that!

i watched the Dallas SWAT show too...

i thought it was well done. i will disagree will most of you here but i enjoy the idea of learning about the personal lives of the SWAT officers. it shows us that SWAT officers are normal people with problems and issues. i just wish the gave equal time to all the cool stuff like the equipment and the training. i would love to know what types of mods they have done to their weapons (triggers, springs, magazines, etc....)

overall i think that Dallas SWAT has some promise. i will be watching it

just to let you all know it on the A&E Channel on thursday night (dont worry if you miss the first showing at 9pm, they repeat it a couple times the same night (or early in the morning)

Maybe this guy should spend less time in the gym and more time in the gun range. I mean you can tell this guys never checks his equipment...

Both those shows are G@!...............I thought the shows were full of testosterone as well! I really enjoyed some of their "tactics" as SWAT cops too. The one where they do a door knock on an abandoned apartment, helping DEA (Don't Expect Anything) with the SWAT cop standing right behind the door in the kill zone. Then he turns his head to look behind himself and at the camera...........Complacency at it's finest!

Those guys were ______! (I can't say the word here, it's not PR enough!)

How about the looser dude that couldn't compete in the SWAT olympics because of an injured foot. I thought he was a looser because he takes the camera crew in his house and shows off his nothing awards and states, "this is me.... this is what 'it's' all about...." blah blah blah. That guy was stuck on himself and he let everybody know it.

I got a good laugh and was embarassed for him.

Just my own .02 cents worth.
