I have been trying to buy a lancaster ak rifles from them and they are saying that they cannot ship here becasue the law says so. I have been trying to pleed my case with them that these rifles are built rifles and are built on nds 3 recievers so they are perfectly legal in Ca as long as they take the pistol grip off prior to shipping. He says that the only ak that they sell to ca is the ca legal one that was approved by the ca dept of justice. Maybe some of you others have tried to buy from them that can chime in with your experiences. Its just pisses me off that all these companies will not ship here because they think its illegal. And while im on the subject what is the deal with ffl's here in Ca that will not transfer oll's or black rifles even though they are perfectly legal to own. Yes we have to take the pistol grips off or keep it and fix the mag but if thats what we have to do to have one of these rifles. Sory for the rant but im realy getting tired of these companies that are scared to ship to ca because they think "its illegal". Thanks

Atlantic Firearms will not ship AK to CA

Evidently they aren't willing to remove pistol grips now.
In the past they were. A few here from CalGuns were able to get them to do so, but it appears they've changed their policy. I ordered a Vector from them about 2-3 months ago and they wouldn't remove the grip either.
So, I went through LanWorld. Chris was very helpful and I would recommend him. It ads $50 + another shipping charge to your total cost. But in the end if you have a nice AK what does it really matter.
As far as Atlantic is concerned, I feel that if they're determined not to remove pistol grips and ship then there's really nothing more we can do. They've been made aware that these rifles are legal and the ease of converting them into a CA-compliant status. They remain determined not to indugle us. There's really nothing more one can do.
By the way, when I was doing a little AK research I got the impression from the AK forums that Vectors are a little better regarded than Lancaster. I'm not saying I'm an expert, nor have a ever seen a Lancaster. But, that's the impression I got from people that area heavily into AKs.
Good luck.Comment

I was going to get a lancaster built rifle but changed my mind to a vector becasue they recomended it to be better. I posted up a response to there post here if some of you guys want to ask them questions or comment to my thread. http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=4&f=64&t=98880
I have sent them a email explaining the laws as well as attaching a copy of them to them but they refuse remove any parts from the rifles to ship to CA. And the the other email i sent was to say i understand thanks anyway. So basicaly what that means to me is they would rather loose$500 + maybe lots more money from the CA market all because they dont feel like takeing a pistol grip off and taking the 30rd mag out of the box. Like i read before someone must have told them not to ship here or something. Im going to try LanWorld then, dont supose you have a link do you? ThanksLast edited by The Bacon Eater; 08-05-2007, 6:09 PM. Chris/Lan World posts on the board (down in the commercial section). Here's a link to one of his posts. He's a good guy and will do you right.
And, I share your frustration with Atlantic. I wonder if the DOJ threatened them with some petty, unenforceable nonsense. It wouldn't surprise me. Oh well.
Seriously, the extra 50 bucks + shipping won't matter when you're blasting away and admiring your new AK.
Have fun.Last edited by TonyNorCal; 08-05-2007, 3:50 PM.Comment

Thanks i just sent him an email and hopefuly he can get what im looking for. I got another email from the president at atlantic and he said they will not ship because there lawyers advised them not to since it is a grey area of the law and dont want and kind of bad publicity if someone was to buy one of there rifles and put the pistol grip back on and commit a crime. So looks like out of luck as far as trying to convince them to ship here. (too bad becasue im sure they would get allot of customers from our state)Chris/Lan World posts on the board (down in the commercial section). Here's a link to one of his posts. Cool. That's a stupid argument on Atlantic's part since someone can just as easily commit a crime with a Mini-14 or any legal rifle.
I read Atlantic's responses in your ar15.com thread and wasn't impressed. They also claimed Saigas were illegal because 'they're listed'. Well, not the RAACs
...which are what distributors currently have.
They don't seem to be getting very sage and business saavy legal advice from their 'lawyers'.Comment

Ha, i too was not very convinced at the response they gave me but i did not want to make a big arguement on that site with them. But i did via email trying to prove to them that its ok. But they still will not ship, oh well i will find someone else. ThanksCool. Also it would be just as easy to drill the rivet in the magwell that they have on there CA legal ak that they are selling. So you could use detachable mags with there pistol grip attached. If someone is determined to have a aw they are going to do it i just dont like it that we all get punished for the actions of a few jack asses.Calguns member formerly known as Long Beach

Trying to get Atlantic to ship OLL/OLR items here by hammering them with emails and argument will only serve to solidify their resolve to not send such items here. They surely get more than enough business on the non-OLL/OLR stuff in CA, as well as everything else from other states, to worry about a minimum of profit on a $500 item, and then have an issue like ATF hassle them, or CA DOJ or sue them the way Bloomberg sued dealers in other states. Sure, the CA DOJ may not win their case, it may get thrown out, and there may never be a trial, but have you seen defense costs now days, even for frivolous lawsuits?
Trying to make any sense with Atlantic is fruitless, and about as productive as trying to get WalMart to sell Glocks in their CA stores.
However, make it easy on yourself. There are SO many helpful FFLs on the OLL/OLR issue that you can now take your pick and be choosey. That wasn't always the case, such as way back around 12/2005. Arguing it then made sense, and some FFLs that said no then are now selling crates out the door of anything and everything. At this point and this late in knowledge of the issue, you are just wasting your own time with companies like Atlantic. Hell, if you are going to take on Atlantic, you may as well really garner up some entertainment value and stand in the middle of Evans' shop and loudly express your opinion and the laws about OLL/OLRs. LOL!!

I did not hammer them with emails i sent one email pleading my case and one reply on my thread at same time and they said no, Ok no big deal i will find another distributor. I started this thread before i got any emailed response from them all i had got was a post on my thread satating that they would not ship to CA so i emailed them asking why they would not ship and that was the end of the arguement with them. I also wanted to hear other members stories and experiences with atlantic as well as other companies about not shiping to ca. Like i said in my post on other thread my ffl has transfered ak's from them in the past and told me it would be ok to do so. This is the first im hearing abot this new policy of theres so its all new to me. Im not going to make picket signs or anything like that i think that is a bit extreme and if you notice toward the end of my first post i did say that i was ranting about there coompanies shipping policy. But i do agree with you that im sure they could care less about a $500 rifle now but that was not going to be the end of my purchases through them and im sure im not the only one who has tried to buy an rifle from them before.
