AK optics??

Also posted in the optics forum, but thought this might get more views...

Looking for an optic for an AK. Have a quad rail mounted on the forearm. Any recommendations? I have an EOtech 517 on my AR and like it, but I think that model might be a little too big/heavy.


Not trying to start a ***** storm, but I've heard of some optics being cooked when mounted over the gas tube. Anybody have any experience with this? Any and all info welcomed.

If you have the money by far the best option out there would be an ultimak gas tube, with an aimpoint micro on it, I would really like to hear from someone that has cooked one of those.

The problem you'll have with some of the side mount commy-style optics out there is that your ak might be canted one way or another, and shimming a scope is no fun.

Texas Weapon Systems has finished beta testing their top cover. Put a Aim-point Micro on it and you are ready to go!

Ultimak + Primary arms micro dot or Aimpoint T1 seems to be pretty popular and the owners seem to be very happy with them.
