    Steel target setup: Need help

    The base that I made is about 2' wide and 7" tall. I routered a 1 1/4" groove in the top 4"x 6" lumber to set the steel plate in. The groove is not intended to support the steel only to keep it in place. There will be chain behind the plate to keep it to keep it in proximity to the 4 x 4 behind. The chain will run thru an eyebolt that will be screwed into the 4 x 4.

    The photo shows the base I made with a cardboard target in it. The base is sitting on top of a bench we use when we are putting up the large targets. The space between the red lines is about 19". I found when I viewed the target from the firing line that the bottom of the target is obscured by one of the skip berms unless it is placed as viewed in the photo.

    So the question is

            So the question is
            roc= Rock ?..

            Why not C-clamp base to table ?..

            A highrez pic would help here.

              We call crushed limestone Roc. Once it gets wet it gets pretty hard kind of like cemet, hard to break up.

              C clamp will not work steel is Quenched,Tempered,Alloy Steel Plate,ASTM,A514 Grade S. Its very heavy, piece is about 27" x 27" and is 1 1/4" thick. Weight is about 260 lbs or more.

              Sorry my photos are usually bad, don't know why that is.

              I have plate and base and engine crane loaded on trailer. Hope to take to range and set up tomorrow.

              I used Roc to fill the low spot, lots of Roc.
