In reserve how many rounds do you keep

How many rounds of 556mm do you generally keep as back up after you have been to the range.

I have a 1000 rounds of 556 in the safe, more than i have ever had before i typically shoot about 350 in a 2 hour session at the range.

Before that left me having to go back and buy more as i would never stock pile them.

Now im at a 1000 im thinking i should hold onto this much as a reserve. Then go shoot more as i buy them.

Note: i dont yet reload but im not at the range every week.

I have somewhere around 1,184 rounds of M855 "green tip", about 150-200 rounds of Remington UMC hollow points, and around the sam in 55gr UMC ball ammo. The sad part is though, I don't even own a firearm that is chambered to .223/5.56 (I am trying out that "if I have the ammo, then I HAVE to eventually get a gun to shoot it" theory).

      550 .45
      2050 9mm
      250 .308
      1000+ 7.62x39R
      200 +/- .357

I always "hold back" enough rounds in all my calibers that keep me in a comfort zone that I'm prepared for any eventuality.

Keep whatever you feel comfortable storing. I like to have about 1K of each caliber. And oni.dori- would you like me to take some of that ammo off your hands

Reserve ammo is like cash in my pocket. When I have it, I tend to spend it.

I need to better restrain myself but I do manage to keep 500 rounds in an inconvenient storage area so I don't go blowing my shooting budget.

I go ammo shopping when I have fewer than 500 rounds of FMJ and 50 rounds of JHP for any of the 5 calibers that I own.
I'll spend between $400 and $900 when I order ammo (hollowpoints can really bump it).

A thousand round minimum for any given round, the only exception is .338 LM because I can't afford a thousand rounds of that particular round.

I'm pretty low right now. I really need to start casting and loading again. Right now, I probably have about 30-40K of various calibers on hand. The bulk of it would be .22lr. but, I've got about 10-20K of centerfire ammo around.
