    Parlor Gun Definition?

Seems like I have ran across the term 'parlor gun' several times in the past. Do .22 rifles & pistols shooting .22 shorts qualify under the definition? If not, what does?

I'm picturing a stack of railroad ties by the TV. Come commercial time, use the little parlor gun to knock down little steel animal outlines. Even something that uses primers and BBs would be great fun.

Let the lectures about shooting in the house begin.....

I wonder that myself. If it doesn't need to go through an FFL, it wouldn't be considered a firearm. As such, I would think that it would be outside of 'discharging a firearm' laws.

I think it would be soooo cool to be able to knock over little silhouettes while sitting around watching tv.

My gut's telling me they probably classify it as an "antique" firearm, something in the same class as black powder guns. No FFL required for black powder guns--probably none required for this thing. It would NOT, however, be exempt from any firearm laws that included "antiques" in their wording.

If for some crazy reason, it's not actually a firearm, I could see this thing having potential for legal CCing.
