    Standard Capacity Magazine?

    So a buddy of mine that I shoot with regularly ask me a question that I was not able to answer. He is not a member on the forum so I figured I would ask for him.

    Basically in 2008 he purchased a used Sig P226 from a gun shop. Initially when he went into put the down payment he was looking at a CPO, however, after the 10 Day wait period when he went in to pick it up, the gun shop owner mentioned to him that he just got a used version of the same gun he was going to buy turned in to him that day and asked him if he was interested in it instead of the CPO he wanted to get. The guy cut him a nice deal and away my buddy went with the used gun. Since the gun was turned in that day, the Gun Shop owner said that he hadn't had a chance to completely go through it and clean it. So when he got home he realized that the gun shop owner also left the Standard 15 Mag that went with the gun in. So the question he has is, is it legal to posses this mag and use it as well?

    Why mention Loughner in the thread title?

    In any case, possession of a 10+ capacity magazine is not illegal, but the gun shop owner just accidentally committed a crime.

      Did you really need to mention loughner just because the brady idiots on the news call them "loughner style" now since it's their new favorite evil sounding buzz word? Might as well call it a puppy murder mag.

      And since possession isn't illegal, he can use it in his p226 or whatever takes p226 mags(unless there's a carbine with AW features that needs a mag lock).

        He DROS'd one gun, went in to pick it up, happened to have a used model of the same gun which happened to have a 15 round mag clip?

        Your "Friend" should be OK.

        Forgive me for being suspicious (not really I guess) But I have never heard a gun owner say they have "Loughner" style "Mag clips". Guess it just sounds odd that's all.

            Isn't there a 90 day consignment hold?
            Also since its a pistol, how can you DROS one, then swap it out for another. Aren't they logged by serial number?

              I too thought it had a hold period.

              Also the use of such a "funny" term is tasteless at least.

                  To be honest, All of the terms I hear on here and the news makes me laugh when in fact they are just standard mags. Again, Was just trying to be funny in which I admit I failed.

                      Not sure how that was handled, I am just relaying the question as my buddy asked me. Sounds like the gun shop owner is not very good at his business.
