Trip to Minnesota

I'm driving to Minnesota this summer for a family reunion and was thinking of getting a couple mags for my glock 17 & xd9 to have on hand in the safe just in case of a shtf situation or whatever. Good idea? Bad idea?

Any other things that I should get while Im out of cali? Looking for any suggestions.

Also wondering if I should bring my glock with me just to have incase I find a cool *** shooting range or just to have for protection. Idk. First trip away from Cali/Nevada since I was a lil boy.

Make sure you disassemble those mag's if they hold more than 10 rounds before you bring them back to Cali.

I'm from Minnesota, Grew up Minneapolis, It's a good place to visit, it gets humid as all hell in the summer though, plus mosquitos, hate those things.

With the Gas prices ...... Wouldn't it be cheaper to fly ???

Cost me and the wife some coin a few years ago just for the gas and hotels

Are you asking if you should take the guns, or pick up mags?

I say yes to both. You don't need the gun to buy mags though.

I would bring it for sure. Last time I went I mailed my gun to myself because I didn't want the hassle at the airport. I drove back. It was nice having the security. It was a quick trip so I didn't get to shoot but I will be next time.

Drive through Yellowstone on your way, and stop at the Painted Canyons.

I may be doing kinda the same thing this month, driving my son's 4Runner out to Wisconsin for him and then flying back to either Hell-A-X or Long Beach. It'd be fun to bring the new .22 Rough Rider along, but I definitely don't wanna get stuck in a logistical nightmare at the airport wrt putting the gun in my check-in bag. Anyone else have experience on this?....

Its really not that bad at all, I've flown multiple times with a large collection of guns, ARs and AKs included, all you do is put them in a hardshell case, lock it, make sure the guns are unloaded. Ammo can be stored in the same box as long as it's in the factory box. I had to throw out a bag of cheap wolf ammo last time, not much ammo though anyways. You go up and declare the guns, they take a look, say nice guns, then send it on it's way.

Some of them don't really know what they are talking about, the best thing to do is go to the TSA website and print out their rules, so when they say "duuurrr you can't do that" you say, yes I can, STFU

It doesn't have to be in a factory box. It could be in a pmag with the cover on it, or in the reloading containers. Anything that keeps them from rolling around and possibly hitting the primer.
