    Various Companies' Customer Service

I frequent some other manufacturer specific forums like S&W and Ruger forums and have heard pretty much nothing but praise about their customer service. Then it made me realize that I've never heard any bad customer service stories, so do all gun manufacturers have excellent customer service? 'Cus when someone brags about company X's legendary customer service, that doesn't really mean much when everyone else is the same.

When does one deal with the manufacturer themselves? Usually deal with my local shop and they do the contacting of the manufacturer.

I recollect some threads a few months back regarding Glock customer. I think one guy had some upgrades done to his and they too them all out kept them and swapped for factory parts. And another thread along those lines. I'm sure you can find them using the search tab.

I've contacted Ruger directly to send in a pistol and many other folks have done the same when they had issues. I suppose I could use my LGS to do the same, but why add a middleman to the process?

I guess it would depend in what you need done. I personally wouldn't want my firearm to be floating around in a ups truck. Go to my lgs, and he locks it in a safe and takes it out to work on it. I had my lgs fix my glock. Cost me $10.00 to repair the firing pin. Much cheaper than the shipping alone.

Yeah, but I think that is pretty normal for a manufacturer to do. The part of that thread which I considered not normal was they disposed of his $100+ custom parts instead of returning them.

Sent my Marlin 1894C to have it's damaged barrel replaced. They sent it back in about 10 days and only charged about $80 total including shipping. Seemed like a great deal to me. Real nice people on the phone. Repair tracking online.

I think it's pretty standard for manufacturers to restore a gun to it's original condition even when it's had custom work done on it. There are liability issues.
