    Response from Texas FFL

I Wanted to send a rifle to a person who specializes in this particular firearm. His FFL would not accept it because it was shipped from CA.
The rifle is Perfectly legal here in Ca. and Texas. Original configuration semi auto only, ten round fixed factory magazine.
    His FFL told him this.

" My FFL dealer says he can't receive nor ship guns to California due to
    Ca. state laws."

What is wrong with these people? You would think they could appreciate the business and referrals.

Sounds like your money just isn't green enough for him. What a shame.

You don't have to go through an ffl if he is just working on it.

If he has a FFL07, gunsmiths, then you can ship to him. If it crosses state line than a FFL must be used. Depending on the gun depends on the FFL.

Crossing state lines doesn't matter. Repair and return ships directly back to you. The furthest ive sent hand guns were to Springfield in Illinois and nutmeg sports in Connecticut.

he's probably thinking about the rule that FFL's who ship to CA need to be registered with CADOJ. There's plenty of others willing to take your money.

                    Those are both FFLs.

They don't need to ship it to an FFL to return the gun (unless they replace the serialized frame/receiver) but it is illegal for an individual to ship a firearm across state lines except to an FFL.

I've seen this on ebay on misc items. Sellers just don't want to deal with CA people. Have to admit there are a lot of kooks here as well as the stupid laws.

Ok Jeff, my mistake, I figured if it was a gunsmith worth a damn they'd be squared away.

A lot of Texas gun stores have the anti California attitude. This isn't uncommon.
