On target requires a thumbprint to shoot on their range?

Is this true? If so I will probably not be back. Do any other ranges either indoor or outdoor do this? I know they recently implemented new paperwork you have to sign if you want to shoot there. I can sort of understand that.

I'm not of the tin foil hat crowd but thumbprint is sort of over the top. I usually just go there to check out the guns and I bought a few but I guess I'll be back even less.

I just texted another calgunner that used to go there a lot and used to have an annual pass. He won't be back he says.

Only reason I even knew of the new forms was I sometimes go there just to shop. Therers two guys outside front door that have a freak out if you don't sign the forms even after you explain you are not shooting that day. "Well make sure you come sign the forms if you do" one blurted out in a panic last time I was there!

Yeah I recall the issues with the previous owner, I saw an artiicle in OC register about it, I think he was a Russian Jew? I don't think he was the original owner though.

Usually when places want fingerprints it's to make someone up to no good think twice about going there. They figure it will help keep bad elements out, I think its retarded and bad customer service. If you don't like it then vote with your wallet, I know I wouldn't go there. There is a place in the bay area that will fingerprint you for any purchase, even some gun oil.

Basically he states that due to someone suing On-Target, they have now implemented a new policy in which protects them further from lawsuits. They are also planning on implementing a card or identification for regulars.

I'm not paying $3 for it and he seems to have locked the thread. Well I guess people will just vote with their wallets. I doubt they will go under because of this policy but I'm sure it will alienate some. I'd just go to Ironsights I suppose if I liverd in south county. Or the many ranges in north OC that don't require a thumbprint.

I found this out last monday-went to test a couple guns ...they are the only indoor range I know of where I can shoot my rifles-308,8mm,etc.....if anyone has an alternate please let me know....because it costs me at least a c-note to go to burro/lytle creek between gas,fees,ammo,food....and half a day or more.

Yea that frikkin blew-give my thumb print,next time I go in I will try giving my middle finger print....see if they notice...

I did fire my Broomhandle there and was surprised no one said anything....had a BIG fireball..way more than I expected....but fun as hell!!!

To protect themselves from future lawsuits, they have people sign a form stating they won't hold On-Target liable for any harm they suffer while there (other than gunshots I think) and also put a fingerprint on it.

BTW, members do not need to provide a fingerprint.

First part is true. I'm a member though, and had to do a fingerprint. From what they told me, members only have to do it once..........guests do it every time.

I have to thumbprint every time a buy a gun there anyway, so I don't mind giving it to them if the want the piece of mind that I won't be a dirtbag and sue them.

Members have to only do it once, and they get a punch on their membership card or something. I paid $5 to get a waiver card made for me. Yes it's annoying (I'm the one that started that thread in the vendor section actually), but their insurance made them do it, just like the rifle class.

I have been to some places where nothing is required beyond a friendly hello, how are you today with your fee.

And I have been to places that want you to read and sign a bunch of forms and submit a blood and urine sample.

This is why I like BLM.... no rules (although I always play safe and legal). No forms. And it is free of charge. It feels so right to be free out there.

Sounds like government type stuff "We need to bombard you with paperwork, signatures, extra wait times and long lines, oh yea, it is also expensive, and because its costing us money, we are going to have to pass the cost on to you."

The use of this form is VERY expensive to me. The extra people I have to hire to help manage the filling out process and tracking of this data is not a profit maker in any way. But, there is hope, I think.

I have ordered some ID cards that will be available to our repeat customers for $3 that will show that they have signed their life away and they will not have to fill out the form each time. We hope to have that in place by the end of the week. Even this solution is NOT really acceptable to me, but it does help the overall bottleneck at the counter.
