    Wild Bill's in Elk Grove

I did a search, found the original thread, and went to correct my earlier post.

Now, there appears to be some "anti-necro thread" setting engaged. Don't know if that was intentional or not, but won't let me update because thread is more than 111 days old. Gee, we have the attention span of a gnat these days, hm?

Anyway, here is my post and my retraction. Sorry for starting a new thread, but I didn't see any alternative.

I'm not here to talk-up the Gun Room, but personally I have never had a bad experience there. The Gun Room is clean, well-lit, looks respectable, and they have more guns than I could fit in my truck, out on the shelf and ready for your inspection. A very wide selection of models and makers. Also there is the indoor shooting range there. Every time I have been to the Gun Room both I and whoever I have brought were treated with courtesy and good service. Sure, sometimes they are busy... but what successful business doesn't have those occasions?

But I am all about the bargain too... if Wild Bill's has the same gun I can get at the Gun Room or other retail gun store, for $100 less, I'd give him a shot, sure. It's just that it's unlikely I'd want any of the half-dozen guns he has on hand at any given time. Been a couple years since I've been in there, since he's closed half the weekend and another day of the week as well. Maybe I'll find time for a side trip the next time I visit the Gun Room. Maybe. And give him a look see.

Maybe he has stocked up since or has a back room I never saw... mostly what I remember from there is "americana" like neon signs and other antiques. I certainly did not see anything particularly "oooh"-worthy. And not any great number of guns, nor impressive specimens.
HOLY COW!! Do I ever have a mia culpa to do...

I recently went down to the Elk Grove Gun Room to take a friend handgun shooting at the indoor range there. We had some time to kill so I thought I'd show him "Wild Bill's" just so we could both have a good laugh...

WAS I EVER IN FOR A SHOCK!!

Since the last time I was there, it has been completely transformed. Before, it looked like a poorly run garage sale in a dingy, poorly lit warehouse/garage. I cannot believe how nice, well-organized and WELL STOCKED Wild Bill's now is!! There were tons of handguns, rifles, shotguns... everything from Cowboy Action to Urban Tacticool. Lots of accessories, gear, you name it. The place, previously full of junk, was now full of all kinds of wonderful shooting-related gear, well-lit and nicely displayed. Still has the neon signs too! But instead of all over the floor, they are up on the wall and many in full neon glow!

Got to say, I was shocked/surprised/delighted to see the change! I will definitely be back to Wild Bill's when I'm in the mood to purchase some guns & stuff!

Again, I just can't believe the huge change in the place, it's nothing like I remember from my previous visit.

All you have to do is click the box indicating you're necro-posting. You could've resurrected the thread.

Anyway, the Gun Room blows. Always has.

In what way? I've always enjoyed my shooting experiences there. Plus they have rentals, which not many local ranges do in the Sac area. It's the place I typically take new/returning shooters for a good experience.

My guess would be "yes" because I saw numerous AR platform rifles on display and for sale, I believe. However, you may want to check with them to see if there is a LEO only policy because I was just browsing and didn't ask.

I've been in to Wild Bill's....it seemed an interesting place, though, I had to roll my eyes at the sales clerk. I asked about a 9mm and he immediately went into a speech about how he used to work with a bunch of petite-sized ladies who were issued .45 cal service weapons. He said that, even though they were apprehensive at first, they came around and were able to handle a .45.

Uhm...right....I never said that I was scared of a .45 or that I didn't think I could handle it. If a lady asks you to show her a particular 9mm....show her the gun and leave the gender commentary out. He meant well, but good grief; I don't like it when the sales guys do that.
