Wood magazine bumpers...

I'm going to make cocobolo wood bumpers for my CMC 1911 magazines so they'll match my grips.

I'm sure I'm not the first to do this, so anyone have any pointers?

Yep its true. The dust from cocobolo is a skin, lung and eye irritant. Some people are affected worst than others. Just wear your personal protective devices..

Just an idea for ya------there's a zillion other types of exotic hardwood out there, and Coco has been pretty much already done as far as grips are concerned. So you may wanna look around and see if anything else out there strikes your fancy. Later this month I'm gonna make some grips for the new Rough Rider, one set out of Pink Ivory and another out of blue ab shells. The latter is gonna be a royal pain, but they should look decent if I can pull it off.....

I milled some Madrone a few years back, and after the 4" x 4" slab was done twisting I got some 8-quarter that looked a lot like Pink Ivory.

Well done, Sir. And that P/Ivory is anything but cheap, si como know? In fact I think Rockler sells it by the gram-----just like the coke dealers do.....
