    Shipping Guns to Different State

Hey guys ive been looking about the process of how to ship guns to a diff: state, but couldnt find a solid resource of the requirements/process, etc.

In my situation, me and my fiance are moving to the stateof hawaii and i own a couple of rifles and shottys. I am planning on taking all of my toys there with me including couple hundreds of rounds of ammo. If there's anyone here who have experience with shipping/moving to another state here via air/water, please do share your story. Thanks Calguns.

It is not illegal to ship firearms to yourself for any lawful purpose. Long guns can go usps, ups, fedex, handguns all the above except usps. Ammo has to go ups or fedex and have an orm-d sticker on it (download one and put it on with clear tape).

It really isn't that hard, the problem is running into uninformed counter people at the shippers.

      Better check your local laws.

Hawaii has some very heinous firearms laws including mandatory permits and registrations.

Also, what the hell is a "shotty"?

Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes...Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.

Man, I would NOT be shipping any firearms to Hawaii. I sure the heck wouldn't be asking a bunch of guys in California how to ship firearms to Hawaii...do you realize how bad that State is?

You need to contact a FFL in Hawaii ask exact questions. then go on-line to one of THEIR websites, ask the same questions.

There was just a story here about a guy convicted and sent to prison for some law that makes Ca look like AZ.

Since UPS and FedEx use airplanes to get packages to Hawaii you can't use the ORM-D exemption to ship ammo to Hawaii. Most commercial airlines will allow you to bring 11 pounds of ammo with you in your checked baggage. So together the two of you could bring 22 pounds of ammo on a flight to Hawaii.

Anything in excess of 22 pounds you should just sell before you leave.
