Can anyone give me points on sighting in/MOA

I don't quite understand MOA and all of that when I'm sighting in at the range. I can still get it on target but I just..turn notches pretty much until it's hitting center. Even though my .22 AR is heaps of fun to shoot, I'd like to zero it in faster then shoot more accurate rounds. I guess it would help if one of my targets had the griding as well. My sights adjust so that one click= 3/4 in. at 100 m. for the windage and the elevation adjusts 1-7/8" for each 1/4 rotation. Not sure how to get it right on when I'm at varying distances in feet & yards. I've been out of school for too long haha.

Any pointers, lessons, articles, youtube vids would help, thanks.

To adjust your sights, shoot a 3-5rd group and just measure (or count grid squares adjusted for your choosen distance) where your point of impact is vs. your point of aim and adjust accordingly.

Close, but not exact. We use 1 MOA= 1" at 100 yards because its easy to round off, and its usually "close enough." MOA is is an angular measure, there are 60 minutes in one degree, so 1 MOA is 1/60th of a degree. Do the triginometry, and 1 MOA at 100 yards is 1.0472" Closer to 1 1/16" but thats not as easy to use and remember as 1". For the OP, your going to have to do some math conversion to get usuable numbers for your sites. First convert meters to yards then to feet if you need. For example 100 meters is 109.4 yards (rounded off). So your sites that adjust 3/4" (.750") at 100m can be converted to .685" per 100 yards. Thats about 11/16" per 100 yards.

Don't forget that there are two types of MOA, "True MOA" and "Shooters MOA". True MOA is in fact 1.0472" per 100 yards however Shooter MOA is a real 1.00" at 100 yards. Now of course this would be determined on the type of reticle you have on your rifle, so check the reticle first.
