U-T-G.com (under the gun) internet site

Just got scammed but this company, for whatever reason, I assumed that they were associated with UTG which they are not.

Bought some stuff, good prices, communication was only so-so, and I had to call them on a rma for something I ordered that didn't fit.

I was told that the policy is 20% restocking and then exchanges only, etc, etc. I asked the guy where it said that, because before calling him I wanted to know so I looked and looked.

He tried to find it as well, and admitted that ITS NOT on the site, they forgot to put it up. Its not in the order procedure, nothing there. He said, okay, I can do 15%, and I was still like you gotta be kidding me, your policy isn't listed anywhere in the shopping cart experience, its not even on the site.

Anyway's I wanted to see the quality of the new UTG free-floating hand-guards, and the product isnt that bad, however, these guys are not even associated with them.

owell, you live you learn, dont waste your time and money with the shotty business.

While I understand your shopping experience was less than ideal, there are a few lessons for you here:

    1) Find out the return policy of the vendor, PRIOR to your making a purchase.

    2) Low price isn't always the best option.

    3) Pay with a credit card so that you can dispute the charges later.

    Good luck...

Totally correct, I have more to add and more reason to warn Calgun members.

I called them to ask them if they needed a RMA number on the return for credit, and got another person answering the phone, who told me that the policy had changed, and now what you buy is what you get, no returns. I mentioned that I had already talked to someone and he came back with, do you have it in writing? Since we dont have a policy online, we can make it whatever we want? You have to be kidding me, I did pay with American Express, so I just told him, F you, Im gonna do a charge back and hung up.

I decided to look at leapers.com and check out this company since I was actually drawn to it accidentally, and really didn't realize that it wasn't the companies official website until at later date. I sent email to the company, explaining a couple of things.

My first statement was about why what I ordered wouldnt work when they made it sound like it would at leapers, I also explained that they should be more careful about the authorized dealers they "authorize" because this one seemed shady.

I left my email and number, within 15 minutes I was called. I was emailed as well, the person in charge of customer service was in route to germany for something, so they told me they were interested in what I had said, because as far as they knew, U-T-G.com wasnt supposed to be in business yet, and the terms of authorization were not yet concreate. As soon as I explained what was happening they immediately did multiple things, first off, they informed me that it sounded like I got a forged item, with the little differences being my issue with usability, and to please take pictures and send them a invoice. #2, they told me that they would replace what I had with anything of equal value, that they were just about to release the unit I ordered with some major modifications that would allow much better clearance of my low profile gas block (I had clearance issues with a bottom screw mounted unit), and I could wait and get the new unit this summer. I told them I also ordered a few other items, and they asked for pictures of all those items, and although not saying it, told me actions were being taken, and that no matter what, everything I bought would be covered by their warranty, and I could exchange anything with them directly for equal store credit (I had to have receipts and invoices for anything I bought). They told me that their products are getting counterfeited and that they are trying to stop it, they didn't say anything bad about u-t-g.com but told me that it was being handled with another department.

I'd say, pretty damn good. How many of you who bought counterfeited M3 or any acog devices get Trijicon to offer to refund you what you spend. Of course, most buying copies know it with different prices, but still, I figured this was all worth mentioning and worthy of calguners knowing about the exception customer service of Leapers.com and the BS shadiness of u-t-g.com, my mistakes I will learn by, but if this helps anyone stay clear, as well as anyone feel comfortable buying real UTG products (they suggested to deal with their website, or cheaperthandirt.com as office partners)..

Hope this helps anyone, if anyone actually is going to read this thread, its worth noting I thought..

man if even the cheap stuff is getting cloned..... that doesn't bode well for the quality.

although i will say i have a UTG/Leapers scope on my rimfire and it has served me well.

I've read that UTG stuff is pretty good to the point where they are being cloned by the Chinese. But then UTG stuff is already so cheap, so better get it from some place official lest you end up with clones.

I purchased two scopes from utg. not utg.com. Works great, and man the stuff is affordable. Got a illumated reticle for my ar15 for a hundred dollars. My acog is 10 times that amount and performs about the same.

The stuff is good, their 80 dollar free float is just as good as the 200+ troy and midwest, thats the reason for this thread, to warn people that U-T-G.com (Under the Gun) is NOT leapers/utg, and not only that, they are a shady to begin with. Also, Leapers says just about any ebay/amazon marketplace is inferior cheap knock offs, there stuff is all made in the USA and make sure its genuine and its good to go.

Sorry to hear about the scam. I have UTG 4rail free-float and BUS on my AR, and they work great. They look/feel solid and for the price, gtg.

well, something must have happened, as the site now has a place holder up saying they will be back. I still have not received everything so I guess I really loose out, but the items that have not come, I feel comfortable calling my credit card on.
