If you are pampared and want people to kiss your *** and be a "yes man" to you, then El Cajon Gun Exchange isnt the place for you. If you like Old Crotchetty guys with Gruff sense of humor, the way gunshops used to be when I was a kid. Then you'll love this place
Went to dros my webley yesterday and was greeted quickly at the door by a younger man who was the cashier. They were busy so I was looking at reloading stuff when an older guy who was really nice came out of the back to make sure I was helped. We b.s.ed for a while about reloading before I wondered back to get my stuff drosed. When the old guy behind the counter got my gun and paperwork he asked for all my stuff all over again, my HSC card has been expired for a few years so I just gave him my military id. He looks at it and the said gruffly, "pff, Army guys... Always buying the wierdest ****!"
It wasnt super fast in and out service with no personality, it was actuallly rather enjoyable. BS'd about old guns and they even had an SW N frame .455 in the case

I'll definately go there again and I encourage all of you SD calgunners who dont have thin skin and live in the SD area to visit them. They also offer a mil discount. I found that out when on my first trip, there was an old cashier and he saw my id card when I was grabbing money.

I refuse to set foot in that store ever again. I don't mind the gruff, crotchetty old timers that work in a gun shop. I do however take issue with people being A-holes for no apparent reason... especially when they are in the "customer service" industry.

The firearms business has a tendency to make some individuals act out inappropriately. I think it has to be the "authority" image of knowing specific info that others do not possess. I am 77 years old, get along with most folks, but do tolerate fools or arrogance. I recently heard a gun shop employee expounding on stuff "like a REAL man carries a .45", etc. He was speaking to an old Marine buddy of mine who said nothing. Not me, I couldn't take the arrogance. So, I asked the sales guy, "You ever have to shoot anyone?" His eyes went wide and he responded, "Well actually no." I said, "Well, Pal, some of us on this side of the counter have done so repeatedly and know a little about firearms." He said, "OK, sorry guys and became a gentleman."

.45acp are for men!!!! lol. but shoot i wouldn't want me be up against any caliber. Currently holster 9mm, cambered with speers gold dot hp. And i practice a few times a week, so i can hit the target i want destroyed. my 45's are all in my safe, too heavy to carry lol

Yeah, they do have a lot of stuff that you may not find anywhere else, like BP guns and accessories, reloading stuff and advice whether you ask for it or not.
They also have a neon orange sign at the door saying "No Guns Beyond This Point..." Apparently they are selling guns to people who they don't trust to handle them safely.
I had a talk with Don, the "manager/owner?" He is ex-law enforcement and has the typical LEO attitude of "if I see a guy, at the mall, with a holstered gun, I assume he's on his way to shoot someone."
They also have lots of gun safes. I bought one recently, but not from them.

Lou is the owner. Ron is the manager, he was sdso reserve and a chief in the navy. The other guys that work there failed the test to be wal mart greeters. The British guy that managed krasnes worked there for a while (not sure if he still does). He is a nice guy and didn't fit in there. Only us old farts know krasnes.

I used to go in there every once in a while with my dad when I was younger and still lived in SD. The guys behind the counter in that place are not "Old Crotchetty guys with gruff senses of humor", they are quite simply, dicks. One of the few stores I have been in where they do not seem to actually want to sell anything.

I just had an idea. I need to make a ticket system. Have like three or more ticket counters you can pull a ticket from. Have them be different colors and hold your ticket out for everyone to see when you come in. Or maybe a badge holder in the color your choose. Something very visible.

"Red: You want to be treated like an inferior who doesn't feel worthy to be in my shop buying my goods"

"Orange: I am going to ignore you until I am done playing on the Internet or talking to one of my employees."

"Yellow: I am going to insult all of your requests for a firearm and recommend my favorite mall ninja ideas that have nothing to do with what you really want in a firearm."

"Blue: This will be the best gun buying experience of your life. Greeted after you get your ticket and made to feel like I want your business."

That way I could take care of everyone's different tastes and needs in a gun shop.

What other colors tickets and personalities should I cater to? I mean we hear all of these gun story gun shops and those gun shops continue to exist. Clearly there is a market for horrible customer service or these places would cease to exist.

I am going to be the first gun shop to cater to everyone!
