    Hearing Protection?

I'm looking for non-electronic hearing protection.

    I'll mostly be shooting 5.56 / .223.

My budget is up to $100, although I really don't want to spend that much.

I have a pretty big head, so recommend me some nice comfortable ones that can take a stretch or two.

    Many thanks for the help!

I like the Browning muffs that I bought at Bass Pro. They are very comfortable. I think they are rated at 30 db and cost about 30 bucks. I'm not sure about your big head problem though. I wear a 7 and 3/8 baseball hat and they have plenty of room for adjustment.

I have the Howard Leight 1525s. Work great for me and my .40. A guy rented the .50 BMG rifle at the range the other day and was next to me. They did fine. If I was using that all the time I'd go for something bigger or plugs under the muffs but for me theyre fine. 27 nrr. 19.99 at optics planet. Just ordered a set for the lady too. They're well made and large I have a big head too. And fold down nicely.

I think I paid $45 for custom earplugs @ the gunshow. Work real well. Plus w/ no profile sticking out past your ear, they are more comfortable shooting a rifle.
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I belong to the group that uses firearms, and knows which bathroom to use.

Howard Leight 32. Very comfortable, and very affordable.

An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself...A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague."......Cicero

The best ear pro you can get is the little foam 32NR things you stick in your ears. The have the best NR rating, are small enough to keep a pair anywhere, are cheap enough to keep a pair everywhere, and they're disposable. You can also give them out to friends/family if they don't have ear pro without worrying.

Personally when I do to an indoor range I use the in ear and the over ear together. This keeps the dude with the hand canon next to me at a manageable level.
