    37mm flares

    ok so i know that the 37mm launchers are legal and flares are legal,but what about the breaker rounds???

    note;
    i do not own one,i am just curious..

          In CA...
          Any non-signal (flare/smoke) round is illegal.

              Not legal as now you have a 37mm projectile launcher. Would be considered a Destructive device.

                  37mm Flare/signal pistols are ok to own in CA. I believe breaker rounds are concidered non signaling. More of a 'flash/bang'.

                      Breaker rounds are basically fireworks. They could be considered "signaling" rounds, but probably aren't.

                      However, that does not make them DD's. All 37mm launchers launch "projectiles". Just because they do doesn't make them DD's. The projectiles have to be specific to anti-personel use (buckshot, baton rounds, etc).

                      In CA, personally I would not have any kind of breaker round. They are made from fireworks that are not fire marshall approved. You have a much better chance with an actual illumination flare, smoke or practice/chalk/marking rounds.

                          I really want a flare gun but I'm not 100% sure where I'd fire it w/o causing legal or fire issues.

                                  Smoke is legal because it is designed and used primarily as a signaling device.

                                  Gas implies anti-personnel. Used in a normally lawful 37mm launcher, a gas round would turn it into an illegal and unregistered DD (Destructive Device).
