    Handgun Mag Disconnector

Anybody know if there's any truth to the rumor that semi-auto handguns will be off-list later this year unless they're equipped with a mag disconnect that won't allow trigger/hammer actuation unless a mag is in place? I understand that's one of the reasons Stoeger's version of the Beretta Cougar is not Cal legal, and it never will be.

if the handgun does not have a mag disconnect and is currently on the list, it can stay on it as long as the manufacturer continues to pay some fee (extortion fee).

If it doesn't have one and is not on the list, it cannot and will not be placed on the list.

Yup, here it is right here on the Cal DOJ's Dangerous Weapons Control Law in the chapter dealing with Unsafe Handguns:

"12126. As used in this chapter, 'unsafe handgun' means any pistol, revolver, or other firearm capable of being concealed upon the person, as defined in subdivision (a) of Section 12001, for which any of the following is true:

. . . (5) Commencing January 1, 2007, for all center-fire semiautomatic pistols that are not already listed on the roster pursuant to Section 12131, it does not have both a chamber load indicator and if it has a detachable magazine, a magazine disconnect mechanism."
