    LAX firing range?

    anyone ever shot there before?

    since its raining i was thinking of going there this weekend to shoot my 308 remington 700, but it says you have to use their frangible ammo. that ammo worth putting through my rifle? kind of a noob bout frangible ammo, how does it differ exactly? thanks

    It shatters on contact so that it doesn't penetrate through their backstop. Kind of pricey. It's fine to put it through your rife.

      Will cost you two or three times more then normal rounds, but it's okay to fire through your gun. Frangible ammo is just a kind of ammo that has very little penetrating capability due to the bullet shattering. But i still think a bit too much for indoors as it still will go right through metal hangers, i've seen it happen.

        Lax is a nice range. I've shot there one time. It is longer than the typical indoor which is nice and has a nice setup. And on the way there you can go to randys donuts and pretend to be iron man.
        I support peace through superior firepower.

          Nice thread, I had forgotten about this place. And I just went on their website and saw this interesting little tidbit;

          Utah Concealed Firears Permits,(CCW)

          LAX Firing Range offers Concealed Weapons Permit Classes. If you are over the age of 21 and have a clean record you can make an appointment to obtain an out of state concealed weapons permit for the state of Utah. The permit is good for 27 states in total and includes Arizona. IT DOES NOT INCLUDE CALIFORNIA!

              Do you recall how deep the stalls are? I swung by Sharpshooters today and theirs max out at 17 yards. Probably not the best place to try out the new .22wmr rifle?........

                    They must have gotten better since I've been there. When I went about 2 years ago it was pretty bad. Bad service, no parking spot, and expensive. Not a very good combo.

                        Shooting lanes max out at 25yds. Great Rane, i've been a long time member. Parking can be a hassle, but if you show up early enough you can park on the street in front otherwise be prepared to hoof it. If it's raining as well as after hours/evening you can park in the carwash area when it's closed along the building.

                        Nolan, Dan and the rest of the staff are good people just takes a little while to get to know everyone.

                            This. You can visit the porn bookshop next door.

                            Bad area. And the help paws over your guns you have to shove thru a hole in the wall. They inspect before they let you in.

                              They have a pretty decent pro shop as well. They do have good prices on ammo when they have sales. I only shoot there during the indoor GSSF competitions. Nice range, but like others said, parking sucks!
