    Competition

Im in a process of buying a STI for competition but I'm confuse if
I will get the one with bushings or the one that has a dust cover and with
just a regular barel or a bull barel.

How true that the one with bushings is faster to cycle compared to
    the one with dust cover?

    Thanks!!!

A bushing barreled gun will tend to cycle faster then a bull barreled gun because of the barrel being lighter. The heavier bull barrel will tend to have a little less felt recoil because of the extra weight. The longer dust cover on some of the STI models will also reduce felt recoil because of the extra weight and maybe a little less muzzle flip because the added weight is at the muzzle and below the bore centerline.

The differences are pretty small and different people will like guns set up both heavier or lighter. Light gund tend to be easier and faster to index from target to target but require better technique to properly control.

If you want to only shoot USPSA/IPSC then either way will be legal. If you also want to shoot IDPA the pistol has to be setup with a bushing barrel and short dust cover in order to be legal for use.
