question about an old gun

my friend has an old Marlin 336A 30-30 and we can't really read the serial to be able to tell how old it is. he was wonderin what it might be worth

its in great condition and the serial starts with an F 54 and the last four numbers are hard to read....

if anybody has one or knows anything about them any info would be great

It was made in 1949. It is worth $50, but since I'm a nice guy I'll give him 75 bucks.
