I would really like a copy of this new map, but it seems their making it difficult. I go to the web site but when I try to download it, the file is corrupted. Actually I would prefer a regular map copy. According to the county its only available by driving down there and picking it up. For me thats a 175 mile round trip and the hassle of going to a county building. All for a $2 map. Why can't they distribute them to the BLM field offices? I would gladly pay more for the darn thing. The few times I go to LA its on the weekends. So thats out. I just hate the idea of going out there just for a map.

I've heard taht some gunshops buying them from the county and then reselling them at a nominal markup. And some people are *****ing about them making a couple bucks on it. I bet you would be willing to pay yourl local FFL $5 for one instead of having to drive to the local office for one.I would really like a copy of this new map, but it seems their making it difficult. If you call our office they will tell you how to order one by mail.

When I talked to Ammo Brothers and Turners a couple months ago, they were going to buy some from us to sell. Don't know if they ever did.
Bass Pro is also supposed to be selling them soon.
BLM and National Forest Service has not shown any interest in buying the maps from us. We provided some free ones to their enforcement personnel and to be posted at their offices.
For printing from our website:
The whole map is 2 sided around 24" X 36". With a regular printer it will take several pages to print out the whole map.
What you may want to try for now, is printing only the areas your interested in.
If you zoom the area your interested in to 150% - 200% you get a very clear, readable print out.
1. Click on "print", then on "Print Range", click on "Current View" and that will narrow your print area to the section your looking at.
2. Then click on "Page Scaling" and choose, "Fit to printable area". That will enlarge the print to whatever size paper your printer is using.John Bishop

Just a note. If Ammo Bros and Turners are selling the maps, they said they would sell them for around $5.00. BassPro has mentioned that they want to sell their reprints for $9.95.
We originally printed 3000 maps. 1000 or so have already been sold to the public, or distributed to law enforcement and wildlife agencies. For this first printing, the Board of Supervisors set the sale price at $2.00 per map to everyone who buys them.
Doing this map was the top priority of our Fish and Game Commission for the last few years it took to make it happen. It cost us $18,000.00 from our funds for legal research, land surveying, etc.
Normally, we receive about $15,000-$20, 000 a year from Fish and Game violation fines. That money we distribute in grants to non-profit organizations that improve fish and wildlife habitat, educate hunters and fishermen, provide youth hunting and fishing programs, etc.
That $18,000 we spent on the map over the last couple of years really put a dent in our funds. We have not accepted any new grant requests for the last 9-10 months, and probably won't be able to for at least another 3 months.
To help replenish our Fish and Game propagation funds, we will be asking the Board of Supervisors to raise the selling price to $5.00 per map for the next printings. I think that most people who have the map, will agree that it is well worth $5.00 for the information it provides.
So what I'm trying to say is, it's a good time to get the maps. Since the remaining 2000 or so maps we have left from this first printing will be sold for $2.00.John Bishop

I could not agree more on the pricing. Dirt cheap. I was actually gonna order three of them tomorrow but send them a ten spot, and a note saying 'Keep the change'.......Just a note.
