Hmmm I guess you have to include the entrance fee of the gun show into your ammo cost. As long as you dont pay for parking or carpool and buy enough ammo, you're good.

3k rounds of .223 would only be 171 per case, so only around $500 dollars for 3 thousand rounds of .223

kinda high. I try not to pay more than $12/box for the best range ammo when buying in bulk. Typically, i get it for $10/box

Pretty sure I've seen Russian ammo for well under 8 dollars a box

Only problem with Russian ammo is it's usually steel cased and lacquered. If you're not at a range, this is usually fine, but more places than not do not allow steel casings.

The one near me had one 250 round box, but it was the same price per round as the Federal box for $10.xx.

As long as I can get 1k rounds shipped to my door for $220 or less it's just easier for me to buy online.

I just hate paying for shipping...

Actually I believe ever so often midway has a 20 off 100 last time I just reused the coupon till I was stocked. Check commercial sales section occasionally they will pop up.

I use to use luckygunner but even if the price is good in the end you pay up to 30 for shipping

There are no Cabelas in Komifornia, so no tax.
