    Is it just me?

Today I saw an ad for a gunsafe a member of our club was selling so I called him to see if it was still available. He told me it was still for sale and gave me directions to his location. After I was on my way for a bit he called me back to tell me the guy who looked at the safe yesterday told him to call before anyone else buys it, so the safe owner called him after I got off the phone and the other perspective buyer said he'd take it. Obviously I'm a bit pissed since I was already on my way over and he previously failed to mention anything about another buyer. Am I wrong to be angry?

It seems to me that since the other guy left yesterday without buying it he passed on the deal and it should be fair game for whoever shows up with the cash first. If he changes his mind before anyone else tries to make a deal, then he's entitled to get it but not when I'm already on my way there. This just seems like a crappy thing to do but I would like to get someone's opinion before I say anything about it to the seller or other club members.

Perhaps the perspective buyer is actually onto something here. I think I'm going to start responding to ads for items I am potentially interested in with "I might take it" so that I can have plenty of time to think about it while still getting first dibs. Then later, if no one else is interested I can grind him for a better price.
I voted against Obama before it was cool.

It looks just plain beastly and the extra heft up front does help manage recoil a bit better. Plus, an angel told me that when God called JMB to heaven it was to build him a full rail 1911!

You're gonna drive yourself crazy man. People do what they do, you have little or no power over their actions.

Now go down to the Post Office and have all his mail forwarded to some hotel in Colorado.

        It's not just you.

You have a valid point, the seller should have never had you drive over with the intention of contacting the first guy.

The seller has no integrity, or is just plain inconsiderate.

        Probably both.

That said, the other two posters also have valid points

Not clear if you told the seller you were heading over to look at the safe right away. In any case the seller should have told you about the other guy while you were on the phone out of courtesy.

Now you know not to deal with the seller in the future without clarifying every detail.
Since guns are supposed to "kill people" I tried to get mine to do other things like take out the trash or cut the grass......no such luck!!!!

Yeah, I told him I was in the car when I called so he said come on over. That's what bothers me about this whole thing.

It's our local gun club, not Calguns. I'd rather not call the club out on this since the offer was posted right on our club's front page. Since I am listening to the advice of all the calmer heads in here I'd rather not start a flame within our club over me being overly bent out of shape about something so minor in retrospect.

I appreciate all the comments and I'll let it go. I guess I let it bother me more than I should have because I really wanted that safe and had been looking for a good deal for awhile. Thanks for letting me vent!

Venting is good. He should've at least told you "hang on, let me call this other dude, I'll call you right back".

The knothead probably thought he was doing the honorable thing by calling the other guy.
Didn't realize the other guy was using him as a lay away program.
