I appreciate all the help and direction given, it has helped a great deal in identifying this pistol (or getting really close).

Here are some pics of the bare metal including the markings I was able to find (the barrel is fairly clear but grip is blurry so the location can be seen and cross referenced with my descriptions in previous post.)

I will examine the barrel closely with magnification to see if I can find additional information.
Since guns are supposed to "kill people" I tried to get mine to do other things like take out the trash or cut the grass......no such luck!!!!

Looks like a Remington No. 4 Early Takedown action. The pistol grip itself does not look like the standard profile though.

Good point considering the takedown pin...

I have emailed Remington and included these pics, hopefully I will find out what exactly it is.

Neat old piece! How did you come across it? Do you know the caliber?
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I belong to the group that uses firearms, and knows which bathroom to use.

Tis better to have Trolled & lost, Than to never have Trolled, at all.

            I inherited it, it's .22 LR...

I will let everyone know what I find out from Remington.
